The checklist can include the folling statements I have checked that all sentences begin with a capital letter and ends with a punctuation mark I have underlined the words that might be misspelled  Sentences are complete By: Inquama Crichlow

Descriptive Writing

Image
In this session we were introduced to Descriptive Writing. DESCRIPTIVE WRITING is the clear description of people, places, objects, or events using appropriate details. An effective description will contain sufficient and varied elaboration of details to communicate a sense of the subject being described. Details used are usually sensory and selected to describe what the writer sees, hears, smells, touches, and tastes. I learnt that apart from the sensory description, that writers are to keep their writing organized so that readers are able to follow and understand. Use precise wording to engross readers. Use figurative language, which readers are able to identify the comparisons. Below is a video that will provide you with various tips on becoming an effective descriptive writer.  How to become a Descriptive Writer  Written By: Inquama Crichlow

Poetry

Image
I really enjoyed this session, to start off the lecturer state the various types of poetic forms such as the; Limerick, Formula Poems, Free Form Poems, Haiku etc. The discussion then shifted to the features of poems which includes;  Contains figurative devices Short sentences Has rhythm or words that dance tunefully across a page  Rhyming word The use of language in unique ways  Afterwards, the lecturer gave use a copy of a poem called "Litany" in which we read as a class and then discuss the lines, renames the poem and my favorite part was when she instructed us to construct our own line to add to the poem. I came up with... "Daylight like shimmering waves hugging tranquil waters." Each student create their own line which was fun and interesting. This session provided me with the a lot of knowledge on poetry which aided me in the writing of my poetic pieces.  In another session we were required to select any poetic form to produce a piece and ...

Stages of Writing Development

Image
In this session we were introduced to the stages of writing development, by engaging the class in a discussion, to begin the discussion she posed the following question; "Is there a particular time for students' to become acquainted with making ideas through their writing?" I did not express this sentiment, but i believe that students should be introduced to idea making through their writing at the Grade Two level. However, our lecturer revealed that students should be introduced to idea making through their writing from the moment that they are able to learn. It became very evident that I underestimated the abilities you students. It became clear that students are capable of constructing ideas through there writing even before they even step foot into the classroom, due to the fact that most of them are surrounded by text. I strongly agree with the aforementioned, there should not be a particular time that students should be allowed to express their ideas through writ...

The Writing Process

Image
Today's session was an interesting one. Ms. Biscette introduced the class to "The Writing Process" in a very creative way. She had us singing a catchy tune, then had us manipulating play dough. To begin, she had us brainstorming, we were to think of something that we wanted to create but it had to be created for a particular individual or group of persons. This one idea was the use of that one color play dough which she provided. After brainstorming, we shared our ideas with each other then, we gave constructive feedback in return. Ms. Biscette subsequently stuck different color play dough on the board then, she allowed us to freely choose other colors that we wanted to use to create our pieces. At that point we were at the drafting stage. This was our favorite part of the writing process for us as a group, persons were molding very unusual but interesting pieces, sharing play dough (collaborating) with each other to make adjustments to their pieces and eve...
