I really enjoyed this session, to start off the lecturer state the various types of poetic forms such as the; Limerick, Formula Poems, Free Form Poems, Haiku etc. The discussion then shifted to the features of poems which includes;
  • Contains figurative devices
  • Short sentences
  • Has rhythm or words that dance tunefully across a page
  • Rhyming word
  • The use of language in unique ways
Afterwards, the lecturer gave use a copy of a poem called "Litany" in which we read as a class and then discuss the lines, renames the poem and my favorite part was when she instructed us to construct our own line to add to the poem. I came up with...

"Daylight like shimmering waves hugging tranquil waters."

Each student create their own line which was fun and interesting. This session provided me with the a lot of knowledge on poetry which aided me in the writing of my poetic pieces.

In another session we were required to select any poetic form to produce a piece and then publish. I decided to write an I wish poem which is a Formula Poem. My piece went as follows;

I wish one day she falls in love with a nightmare
The type to make her crave 'too sweet'
I wish he would fabricate the same behavior that she had towards our relationship - Effortless
I wish she felt my misery
I wish she would fought for me,
but instead she carelessly grant me leave
I wish she meant it, "I love you Q"
A fool i was to say "I love you too"
Yet still, I wish, I wish, I was what she wanted.
